Forgetting your password can be a frustrating experience, but luckily there are a few ways to reset a lost password on a Lenovo Windows 8.1 computer. This tutorial will walk you through the process of resetting your password using a password reset disk or Kon-Boot, an external hard drive, or the command prompt.

If you have created a password reset disk in the past, you can use that disk to reset your password. To do this, insert the disk into your computer and follow the prompts. If you have not created a password reset disk, you can use an external hard drive or Kon-Boot to reset your password.

To use an external hard drive, you will need to download the Windows 8.1 password reset files from the internet. Once you have downloaded the files, copy them to the external hard drive. Then, boot your computer from the external hard drive. Once your computer has booted, follow the prompts to reset your password.

To use Kon-Boot, you will need to download the Kon-Boot files from the internet. Once you have downloaded the files, copy them to a USB drive. Then, boot your computer from the USB drive. Once your computer has booted, follow the prompts to reset your password.

If you do not have a password reset disk or an external hard drive, you can use the command prompt to reset your password. To do this, you will need to boot your computer from a Windows 8.1 installation disc. Once your computer has booted, select the Repair your computer option. Then, select the Command Prompt option.

At the command prompt, type the following commands:

cd C:\Windows\System32

ren Utilman.exe Utilman.exe.bak

copy cmd.exe Utilman.exe

Exit the command prompt and reboot your computer. When your computer reboots, select the Ease of Access icon at the login screen. This will launch the command prompt. At the command prompt, type the following commands:

net user

net user [username] [password]

Exit the command prompt and reboot your computer. You should now be able to login with the new password.
